Chinkee Tan takes legal action over false arrest claims linked to crypto scam

Financial advisor and motivational speaker Chinkee Tan has filed legal action following false claims that he was arrested, which were used to promote a cryptocurrency scam.

The incident came to light late last month when Tan was alerted about a website falsely reporting his arrest. The website, however, directed users to a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme. Soon after, fake advertisements and misleading websites posing as news outlets appeared on social media platforms like Facebook, further amplifying the lie.

In response, Tan released a public statement condemning the misuse of his name, stating, “This is not only a blatant lie, but it’s also a harmful tactic meant to defraud individuals. I urge everyone to be cautious and verify the legitimacy of such reports.”

Tan’s team has reported the fake posts and filed formal complaints with the National Bureau of Investigation’s Cybercrime Division, including an Affidavit of Denial and an Affidavit of Complaint. He also urged the public to be vigilant about deceptive online advertisements and to verify information from credible sources.

Tan continues to collaborate with authorities and social media platforms to put an end to these false claims.
