A Chinese national suspected of assuming a false Filipino identity was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Sunday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed.
The woman, identified as Wang Xiuju, was intercepted by immigration and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officers shortly after arriving from Kuala Lumpur. Authorities said Wang had been using the alias Cassia Palma Poliquit, complete with a Philippine passport and birth certificate obtained through late registration.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said Wang’s movements were being tracked following a tip from the NBI about her questionable identity. A comparison of her records showed that Poliquit’s biometric data matched Wang’s, confirming they were the same person.
“Wang is considered to be the ‘Alice Guo of the Metro,’” the BI stated, referencing the controversial former Bamban, Tarlac mayor recently unmasked as a Chinese national. Authorities added that Wang is allegedly involved in electric vehicle-related businesses across Metro Manila using falsified Filipino credentials.
The BI said Wang, 43, is a Chinese citizen holding an investor’s visa. She is now in custody at the bureau’s wardens facility while deportation proceedings are underway.
