Chel Diokno, Cendaña, Ismula take oath as Akbayan reps, vow to champion reforms in Congress

Human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, youth advocate Perci Cendaña, and gender rights champion Dadah Ismula have officially assumed their roles as representatives of the Akbayan Party-list after taking their oath before Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Following their victory in the 2025 party-list race, the trio committed to pushing for long-overdue reforms in Congress that reflect the party’s progressive platform. Diokno, known for his legal activism, joins Cendaña and Ismula in backing legislative priorities that include the passage of the Anti-Endo Bill, a ₱200 wage hike for workers, and the Allowance is Essential Bill that seeks to institutionalize student support.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to pass the SOGIE Equality Bill and push for comprehensive reforms in the education sector—bills that have long stalled in the legislative mill.
