Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 has reopened check-ins for Emirates and flydubai flights after experiencing unprecedented weather conditions, a spokesperson from Dubai Airports confirmed in a Khaleej Times report on Thursday.
The spokesperson advised passengers to head to Terminal 3 only if they have received confirmation from their airline regarding their flight departure. They emphasized contacting the airline for the latest flight status information due to the high volume of guests in the check-in area.
Emirates airline also announced that customers departing from Dubai can now check-in for their flights, though they cautioned about possible delays due to operational challenges resulting from heavy rains earlier in the week.
“Please make your way to the airport only if you have a confirmed flight booking, as the airport remains congested,” said an Emirates spokesperson in a statement to Khaleej Times. They urged impacted customers to contact their booking agents or Emirates contact center for rebooking assistance.
Due to continued operational challenges caused by the bad weather and road conditions, Emirates extended the suspension of check-ins for passengers departing Dubai until 9 am on April 18. The UAE experienced its heaviest rain in 75 years on Tuesday, leading to flooding across various residential districts and prompting the government to encourage remote work for private sector employees.
Emirates assured affected customers of its efforts to restore scheduled operations and provide accommodation and other amenities at the airport. “There may still be delays to arriving and departing flights. Please check the latest flight schedules on the Emirates website,” the spokesperson added, expressing apologies for any inconvenience caused by the disruptions.
