Entrepreneur and former Ilocos Governor Chavit Singson has pledged P5 million to Olympian Carlos Yulo if he reunites with his family. Singson made the offer public through a video statement on Facebook, expressing his desire to see Yulo and his family come together.
“Para lang magsama-sama silang mag-pamilya, magbibigay ako ng P5 milyon,” Singson stated, clarifying that his offer is not a reward for Yulo’s gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but rather a gesture to promote family unity. “More on sa pamilya,” he emphasized.
Yulo, who recently won two gold medals at the Paris Olympics, has been at the center of family controversy. The 24-year-old gymnast responded to previous remarks by his mother, Angelica Yulo, regarding his relationship with Chloe San Jose and the alleged mishandling of his past earnings. Yulo mentioned that he had forgiven his mother “a long time ago.”
Singson acknowledged the difficulty in bringing Yulo and his mother together due to past conflicts. However, he remained optimistic about the possibility of a reconciliation, saying, “Ang sigurado, si Carlos Yulo at ‘yung tatay, ‘yung pamilya nila. ‘Yung nanay ang kinakausap pa kasi masama ang loob nung bata.”
Despite the challenges, Singson reaffirmed his commitment to giving the P5 million, even if the family reunion is not fully complete. He urged Yulo to forgive his mother, saying, “Nakikiusap ako… [‘Pag] maligaya kayong pamilya, maligaya na rin ako.”
Yulo’s father, Mark Andrew Yulo, has also expressed hopes for a family reunion. He was seen at the welcome parade for the Philippine Olympians, holding a banner and making a heart gesture toward his son. Carlos Yulo later thanked his father in a Facebook post, expressing happiness at seeing him in the crowd.
