Dubai Metro is marking its 15th anniversary with a series of special events and limited-edition collectibles, offering residents and visitors a chance to celebrate the city’s beloved transportation system. Since its launch on September 9, 2009, the driverless Metro has become an integral part of daily life in Dubai, evoking a sense of nostalgia among many who have witnessed its evolution.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has themed the anniversary celebration “15 Years on Track,” featuring a variety of activities, exclusive items, and surprises. Residents can look forward to limited-edition postage stamps by Emirates Post and special edition Nol cards designed by Lego Middle East. Metro-themed souvenirs will also be available from Al Jaber Gallery.
On September 21, 2024, Legoland Dubai will host a unique event for “Metro babies”—children born on September 9 from 2009 to 2023. Families interested in attending can register through the RTA website. Additionally, Igloo will release a limited-edition Metro-shaped ice cream, with 5,000 sticks containing codes that can be redeemed for Nol Terhaal discount cards.
The celebrations will continue with the 4th Dubai Metro Music Festival, featuring performances by Emirati and international musicians at various Metro stations from September 21 to September 27.
