The upgraded rating recognizes the terminal’s enhanced world-class facilities and superior customer experience. Notably, improvements in transfer infrastructure at Terminal 2 were highlighted, making MCIA a more appealing hub for connecting flights within the Philippines.
The rating system by Skytrax assesses various categories such as Ground Transportation, Security Screening, and Food & Beverage, among others. Terminal 2 received high marks in the Arrival, Food and Beverage, and Transfer categories. However, areas like Terminal Maps and Quiet or Relaxation Areas were noted for needing improvement.
Overall, MCIA, which includes Terminal 1 retaining its 3-Star Regional Airport rating, stands as the second busiest airport in the country. Notably, other airports achieving 5-star ratings include Hamad International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport.
