A 14-year-old student in Cebu City was rushed to the hospital after suffering multiple neck wounds and bruises on her back, allegedly inflicted by her 18-year-old schoolmate inside a campus restroom.
In a GMA News Online report, Authorities said the attack happened on the afternoon of February 10, 2025, when the suspect, believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, reportedly refused to accept their breakup. He then took her to an abandoned restroom on the school’s second floor and assaulted her with a knife.
The victim, identified only as “Lydia,” was discovered by her cousin, who immediately alerted their teachers. Police in Mabolo later apprehended the suspect in a follow-up operation. He has remained silent about the incident.
While school officials have yet to confirm the nature of the students’ relationship, an intervention program has been initiated for students, according to spokesperson Chrisren Flores. The parents of both students were also called for a meeting.
Colonel Enrico Figueroa, director of the Cebu City Police Office, urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation about the case online.
Authorities are preparing to file a frustrated homicide case against the suspect.
