Cebu Pacific (CEB), a leading low-cost airline in the Philippines, has recently garnered significant recognition from two international bodies, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable operations, exceptional safety standards, and quality service.
World Economic Magazine, a prominent American publication focusing on global financial market disruptors, awarded CEB the title of “Best Low-Cost Airline Brand in the Philippines for 2023.” The same magazine also acknowledged CEB as the “Best Sustainable Low-Cost Airline” in the Philippines, highlighting its eco-friendly initiatives.
CEB’s achievements have not gone unnoticed, as it stands among nine Philippine companies to be recognized on this prestigious global platform, demonstrating its commitment to excellence and progressive growth.
Further accolades come from airlineratings.com, a leading authority in airline safety and product ratings. CEB was listed among the “Top 20 Safest Low-Cost Airlines in the World for 2024,” a testament to its stringent safety protocols and operational standards. This rating is based on various factors, including fleet age, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit results, and incident records.
In recognition of its comprehensive safety measures during the pandemic, CEB previously received a perfect 7-star rating from airlineratings.com.
CEB’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Szucs, expressed pride in the airline’s achievements, stating, “Being recognized as one of the top low-cost carriers globally, commended for our safety records and effective safety management systems, is a great honor. These accolades inspire us to continue excelling in the industry.”
CEB has consistently implemented a low-cost business model, targeting budget-conscious consumers to make air travel more affordable and accessible. It is also renowned in the Asia-Pacific region for its cost-efficient and environmentally friendly operations. In a landmark achievement, CEB conducted its first passenger flight using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in September 2022, becoming the first Southeast Asian low-cost carrier and the first Philippine airline to integrate SAF into its commercial flights.
Additionally, CEB was recognized as the “Asia Environmental Sustainability Airline/Airline Group of the Year” by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) in 2022, for its leadership in regional aviation sustainability.
Looking ahead, CEB aims to transition to an all-NEO fleet by 2028 and plans to use blended SAF across its entire network by 2030. Presently, CEB operates flights to 35 domestic and 25 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, continuing to expand its reach and impact.
