Socialite and influencer Cat Arambulo has issued a public apology following backlash over a video where she considered using a “floatie” and a “wakeboard” in floodwaters caused by Typhoon Carina.
In the now-deleted TikTok video, Arambulo documented herself, her children, and several companions navigating a flooded street in a vehicle. During the video, Arambulo’s daughter suggested using a floatie in the flood, prompting Arambulo to ask her house helper if it was safe.
Days later, on July 27, Arambulo apologized on Instagram for her remarks, acknowledging their insensitivity during a crisis. She expressed her commitment to using the incident as a learning experience and to focus on providing relief to affected communities.
This is not the first time Arambulo has faced criticism. In 2020, she received backlash for comments made during the pandemic regarding workers leaving their homes.
