Actress Cassy Legaspi has revealed her struggle with hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland fails to produce enough hormones to meet the body’s needs. Common symptoms of hypothyroidism include fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and hair loss.
In an episode of “Kapuso Artistambayan,” Cassy shared how her diagnosis made it difficult for her to lose weight and maintain an active lifestyle. “Fatigued ako, tapos intense falling hair. Sobra talaga! Palagi akong nilalamig, parang may fever ako,” she said.
Despite these challenges, Cassy used her diagnosis as a turning point, focusing on becoming healthier rather than simply losing weight. “At this point, Cassandra, ‘wag ka nang magpapayat, maging healthy ka muna,” she recalled telling herself.
To stay active, the Sparkle actress switched to playing sports like tennis and paddle, as well as doing pilates. She also emphasized that she doesn’t restrict her diet, saying, “I don’t cut out carbs. I don’t like restrictions because that’s what got me into this mess in the first place.”
Cassy joins other celebrities, including Bea Alonzo and Carla Abellana, in being vocal about their experiences with hypothyroidism.
Recently, Cassy has been busy with new projects, including the launch of her vodcast Cassy’s Corner and her feature as the cover girl for Yris Magazine, a digital publication focused on fashion.
