Cash worth P20,000 stolen from homeless woman in Cebu City by minor suspects

A homeless woman in Cebu City lost around P20,000, which she had saved over 10 years, after it was stolen by a minor and an accomplice. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing an e-trike stopping near the woman, who was sitting on the sidewalk. The minor suspect got off the vehicle while his companion remained inside, GMA Regional TV reported.

As the woman was distracted, the suspect snuck up behind her and grabbed her bag. Realizing the theft, the woman chased after the suspect, but he managed to escape with the bag. Authorities later found the abandoned e-trike, but the suspects had already fled. While the bag with cash was recovered, it’s unclear if the full amount was returned.

Barangay officials have expressed their intention to provide further assistance to the woman, who lives alone and is supported only by an elderly man she claims is not a relative. The investigation is ongoing.
