Cash remittances from overseas Filipinos climb to nearly $3B in June

Cash remittances from overseas Filipinos rose to $2.99 billion in June, marking a 3.7% increase from the $2.88 billion recorded in the same month last year, according to data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Of the total, land-based workers sent home $2.43 billion through banks, while sea-based workers contributed $555 million. The largest inflows came from the United States, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

For the first six months of 2025, total cash remittances reached $16.75 billion, up 3.1% compared to the same period last year. Personal remittances—which include both cash and in-kind transfers—also went up by 3.1% in June to $3.33 billion.

The Philippines remains one of the world’s top recipients of remittances, with these funds playing a crucial role in driving household spending and fueling economic growth. The Philippine Statistics Authority reported that household consumption expanded by 5.5% in the second quarter of 2025, supported in part by money sent home by overseas Filipinos.
