Carrefour shuts down operations in Oman

French retail giant Carrefour has officially closed its operations in Oman as of January 7, 2025, according to a statement shared on its social media platforms.

In its announcement, the company expressed gratitude to its Omani customers for their support over the years, stating, “We would like to extend our sincerest thanks and gratitude for your continued support throughout the decades.” Carrefour also apologized for any inconvenience caused by the closure.

This decision comes just two months after Carrefour ceased operations in Jordan on November 5, 2024. Despite these closures, the retailer remains focused on growth in other regions. In September 2024, Carrefour announced a partnership with Dubai’s Apparel Group to expand into the Indian market, with plans to launch its first stores in North India by 2025.

Carrefour operates over 14,000 stores across nearly 40 countries and continues to pursue new opportunities globally.
