Carlos Yulo’s rewards for his historic achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics have surpassed the P100 million mark. This milestone was reached following the Senate of the Philippines’ award of P3 million in cash incentives and the prestigious Medal of Excellence to Yulo for securing two gold medals in men’s artistic gymnastics.
During a plenary session, Senate President Francis Escudero presented the Medal of Excellence and a ceremonial check worth P1.5 million to Yulo, whose victories in the floor exercise and vault contributed to the Philippines’ best-ever Olympic performance.
The Senate also awarded P1 million and medals of excellence to Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas for winning bronze medals in boxing. Additionally, four Senate resolutions were adopted to commend the entire Philippine Olympic team, the Philippine Olympic Committee, and the Philippine Sports Commission for their successful campaign in Paris.
Earlier that day, Yulo received P2 million from the City of Manila, where Mayor Honey Lacuna declared August 4 as “Araw ni Carlos Yulo” to commemorate his first Olympic gold.
