Carlos Yulo’s incentives for winning two gold medals at the Paris Olympics have now exceeded P113 million, following a P3-million reward from Chooks-to-Go. The award was given during the grand opening of Chooks! at Festival Mall in Muntinlupa, marking the company’s 38th dine-in restaurant.
“Chooks-to-Go and Bounty have always been more than just a brand; it’s a beacon of hope for Philippine sports,” said Patricia Cheng-Lim, Vice President for Corporate Marketing and Executive Vice President for Operations of Chooks-to-Go Inc, in a The Manila Times report. “We are honored to reward Carlos Yulo’s extraordinary accomplishments and are excited to share this moment with the fans who have been a crucial part of his success,” she added.
The event was attended by key figures from the company, including Bounty Fresh Group Holdings Chairman and Chooks-to-Go Inc. President Tennyson Chen, CFO Diane Choi, and Festival Mall manager Yvette Dizon. Sports personalities like Atlanta Games silver medalist Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, fellow Paris Olympian and fencer Samantha Catantan, and triathlete Nikko Huelgas also attended.
Cynthia Carrion, the chief of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines, accompanied Yulo at the event.
Yulo’s incentives have been growing rapidly, including a P20 million base incentive under Republic Act 10699, which grants P10 million per Olympic gold medal. Additional rewards have come from various sources, including a P3-million incentive from the Senate and a P10-million reward from business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan. No other Filipino Olympian has matched Yulo’s achievements, leading to his record-breaking incentives.
