Ten Careem captains residing in the UAE were gifted with fully-sponsored trips to visit their families in Lahore, Pakistan.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between Emirates NBD, a foremost banking group in the MENAT region, and Mastercard, seeking to honor the dedicated service of Careem’s top-performing ride-hailing and delivery captains.
Selected from a pool of hardworking individuals, the rewarded captains include veterans such as Captain Shahzad, who has been with Careem for nine years and met his family of five for the first time in almost two years, and newcomers like Captain Usama, a two-year service holder who reunited with his family of six.
The timely surprise also enabled Captain Azmat to grace his daughter’s birthday party and allowed Captain Babar to attend a family wedding.
Covering all travel expenses and providing spending money, the initiative facilitated reunions for some captains who haven’t visited their home country in over two years due to their commitment to financially supporting their families from afar.
Mudassir Sheikha, Careem’s CEO and co-founder, expressed deep gratitude to Emirates NBD and Mastercard for making these heartfelt reunions possible.
“Our captains are the heart and soul of Careem. We are happy to see them reunite with their families this summer,” Sheikha remarked.
Echoing Sheikha’s sentiment, Marwan Hadi, Group Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates NBD, highlighted the banking group’s delight in being part of a project that aids in reuniting families.
“As a leading local banking group in the region, Emirates NBD always strives to support community initiatives and make a difference to individuals, society, and the nation as a whole,” Hadi said.
