A Kuwaiti jeweller has unveiled a lavish offering for Valentine’s Day: a dress made entirely of pure gold. Revealed on his official Instagram account, the dress, according to Abu Youssef, represents “the latest fashion trend in Kuwait.”
With a hefty price tag of 48,000 Kuwaiti dinars (approximately AED572,000), the jeweller has added an enticing offer of complimentary box, flowers, and packaging for the prospective buyers.
The promotional video shared by Youssef intriguingly showcases only the top part of the gold dress, leaving much to the imagination. This unique approach has ignited a buzz on social media platforms throughout Kuwait and the Arab world. The reactions have been mixed, with some admiring the creativity and uniqueness of the idea, while others balk at the extravagant cost, questioning the practicality of such an opulent gesture for Valentine’s Day.
Despite its introduction in 2021, the gold dress has not found a buyer, remaining a symbol of luxury and status. However, gold and jewellery experts see potential in this trend, suggesting that gold dresses might become a new staple among Kuwaiti women. They argue that in times of economic uncertainty, investing in such luxurious items could offer a safe haven, blending fashion with financial security.
