Abu Dhabi has introduced its first-ever fully air-conditioned outdoor walkway, offering pedestrians a cool and comfortable experience even during the city’s scorching summers.
Located in the Al Nahyan area near the Al Mamoura building, the new walkway maintains a constant temperature of 24°C, thanks to an advanced cooling system embedded along its path.
The project, spearheaded by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, aims to enhance urban living by making outdoor spaces more accessible throughout the year.
Beyond climate control, the walkway features retail shops, cafés, and seating areas designed for year-round use. The structure allows natural light to enter while keeping the cooled air inside, ensuring a pleasant ambiance.
Additionally, sound-insulated walls help minimize city noise, providing pedestrians with a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle.
This initiative is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader plan to integrate innovative technology into public spaces, with more developments expected in the future.
