While many Filipinos in the UAE chose to celebrate the four-day National Day holiday at home, others took to the outdoors, enjoying the serene beauty of nature. Among them was Precious Krizmiene Lopez and her family, who, along with friends, camped overnight at Al Mirfah in Abu Dhabi to escape the city’s hustle and immerse themselves in the peaceful outdoors.
“Peaceful and windy na po dito kaya need na magdala ng jacket. Perfect ang fishing and crabbing experience po,” Lopez shared with The Global Filipino Magazine.
She described the unique experience of fishing and crabbing during low tide at night, which turned into a fun morning swimming session for adults and kids alike as the tide returned. “Sa gabi po, lowtide kaya nakapag crabbing and fishing po. This morning po ayan na yan yun dagat pwede naman magswim na po. Adult and kids po pwede magenjoy,” she added.
However, Lopez also noted the chilly weather, saying, “Malamig nga lang po talaga kasi windy na.”
The UAE’s four-day holiday, running from November 30 to December 3, commemorates the country’s National Day. As families ventured outdoors, temperatures dipped in some areas. According to the National Center of Meteorology, Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, recorded a chilly 7°C yesterday, adding to the winter vibe of the celebrations.
