Former national security adviser Clarita Carlos took to social media to highlight a design flaw in a campaign tarpaulin featuring former interior secretary and senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos. Carlos noted that the small font size of the preposition “ng” in the phrase “KALABAN NG KRIMINAL BENHUR ABALOS” made it appear as though Abalos was being labeled as a “criminal” instead of an opponent of crime.
The retired UP professor shared an image of the tarpaulin, located on a footbridge, on her Facebook page on October 15. She urged Abalos to adjust the design, saying, “Please ask your graphic artist to make visible the PREPOSITION.”
Carlos’ post quickly gained attention, with other Filipinos chiming in about the misleading appearance, with one netizen humorously commenting, “Kala ko comma, ‘ng’ pala ‘yan.”
Abalos is currently running for a Senate seat in the 2025 elections under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s slate.
