Cacdac vows strict monitoring of OFW funds amid P1.4B land deal controversy

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac has assured the public that government funds intended for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families will be closely guarded following questions over a controversial land acquisition deal.

Cacdac made the statement after reports emerged about an alleged ₱1.4 billion land purchase under the previous administration of former OWWA chief Arnell Ignacio, which reportedly did not undergo proper board approval.

In response, Cacdac emphasized that transparency and integrity will remain top priorities in the delivery of services for OFWs, now under the leadership of newly appointed OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan.

Earlier, Cacdac confirmed that Ignacio was removed from his post—not resigned—due to what he described as a “loss of trust and confidence.”
