Dubai’s public transport usage saw a notable increase in the first half of 2024, with Dubai Metro emerging as the most preferred mode, transporting 133 million passengers and accounting for 37% of all public transport riders. According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), total public transport ridership reached 361.2 million during this period, marking a 6% increase from the previous year.
BurJuman and Union stations were the busiest, with BurJuman station handling 7.8 million passengers and Union station 6.3 million. On the Red Line, Al Rigga station led with 6.2 million passengers, followed closely by Mall of the Emirates and Business Bay stations. For the Green Line, Sharaf DG station topped the list with 4.7 million users.
The RTA highlighted the overall growth in public transport use, with daily riders averaging 1.98 million in the first six months, up from 1.88 million in 2023. This surge underscores ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of Dubai’s transport network and reduce dependence on private vehicles.
