Burj Khalifa illuminates to honor return of UAE astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi

United Arab Emirates celebrated the return of astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi with grandeur, lighting up the iconic Burj Khalifa, among other landmarks, in a dazzling display of national pride.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, commended the homecoming as a “tremendous moment of national pride.”

Joining him in welcoming AlNeyadi was His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

In a spectacular tribute, the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest edifice, showcased an image of Sultan AlNeyadi adorned in his space suit, epitomizing him as the ‘Sultan of Space.’

The festivities were not confined to Dubai alone. Abu Dhabi also extended a grand salute with illuminated buildings exhibiting warm messages and photographs heralding the return of the cherished astronaut.

A visual delight shared by Abu Dhabi Media Office captured the radiant Mubadala Tower, the Adnoc building, Khalifa University’s entrance, and the Marina Mall’s observation tower, all echoing the joyous ‘homecoming.’

An extravagant reception ceremony unfolded at the new Abu Dhabi Airport terminal, revering Sultan AlNeyadi’s monumental achievements and marking his return to the homeland.

The ceremony was graced with the presence of school children dressed in astronaut outfits, government dignitaries, and the general public, who all came together to celebrate this historical moment.

The attendees were treated to a rich cultural performance, including the traditional Al Ayyala dance, resonating the joy and pride felt across the nation.

The event encapsulated the nation’s high spirits with waves of UAE flags and a round of applause that filled the air.

Among the distinguished guests present were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Affairs Court, alongside Crown Princes, fellow royals, and ministers.
