Big Hit Music announced that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS have started the process of enlisting for their mandatory military service. This update was shared on Wednesday via the fan community app WeVerse.
The label’s statement revealed that these artists are actively preparing to fulfill their military duties. However, Big Hit has not specified the exact dates when these four members will officially join the military. Fans are assured that further updates will be provided in due course.
These four idols are the last of the seven-member group to begin their conscription. Previously, Jin, the oldest member, commenced his military service in December 2022, followed by J-Hope in April and Suga in September.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men under 30 are required to serve in the military for a minimum of 18 months, a mandate arising from the ongoing technical state of war with North Korea.
Before Jin’s enlistment, BTS announced a hiatus from group activities, allowing members to concentrate on individual projects. Big Hit Music has previously mentioned that BTS is expected to regroup around 2025, post their military service commitments.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has risen to immense global fame, achieving numerous milestones such as selling out international stadiums, topping major US music charts, and significantly contributing to South Korea’s economy. Their worldwide fanbase, known as ARMY, remains one of the most dedicated and expansive in the music industry.
