Wesley Guo, the alleged brother of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, intends to surrender soon, according to the former mayor’s legal counsel, Stephen David. This announcement was made during a press briefing on Thursday, September 5.
David revealed that he last spoke with Wesley on September 4, stating, “He also wants to surrender,” during an interview, adding that Wesley may feel “discouraged” following the recent arrests of his alleged sisters by Indonesian authorities. Alice Guo was apprehended in Tangerang City, Jakarta on September 3, and Sheila Guo was also arrested in Indonesia on August 22. Wesley’s supposed girlfriend, Cassandra Li Ong, was detained alongside Sheila.
The lawyer mentioned that Wesley’s surrender could be influenced by a sense of inevitability, given the arrests of his associates. David noted, “There comes a point when you feel discouraged because everyone you’re with is already there. As human beings, we have moments of weakness.”
While Wesley’s exact location remains unknown, David declined to comment on rumors that he is currently in Hong Kong. He also chose not to provide details about the steps being taken for Wesley’s potential surrender, only confirming that his legal team is actively working on it.
Authorities are also involved in the situation. The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) reported that Wesley tried to enter Hong Kong on August 26, a claim supported by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla. Efforts are underway to cancel Wesley’s passport, and the Bureau of Immigration has requested assistance from Hong Kong authorities to locate him.
Meanwhile, Alice Guo is expected to return to the Philippines on a chartered flight from Indonesia, arriving at 6:18 p.m. on Thursday.
