British Airways extends Abu Dhabi cancellations all the way to October

British Airways has pulled all flights to Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport from its schedule through October 25, 2026 — the most extended of several route suspensions the carrier has announced as conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt regional aviation.

The airline made the announcement on March 16, framing the decision as an effort to give passengers greater certainty while conditions in the area remain unpredictable.

Dubai, Amman, Bahrain, and Tel Aviv routes face a shorter but still significant suspension, with all flights to those destinations cancelled through May 31. Doha service is on hold until April 30, after which a reduced schedule will operate through the end of May.

In a statement, a company spokesperson said: “Due to the continuing uncertainty of the situation in the Middle East and airspace instability, and to provide more clarity to our customers, we’ve extended the temporary reduction in our flying schedule in the region.”

Passengers holding bookings up to May 31 are being offered three options: rebooking on another carrier, moving their travel to a later date, or claiming a full refund.

The airline said it has been in direct contact with affected customers and has already assisted thousands in getting home since the situation began. “We’ve helped thousands of customers return home and operated eight relief flights from Muscat in Oman,” the spokesperson added.

To accommodate displaced travellers, British Airways said it has added four extra flights to Singapore and three to Bangkok, and is continuing to assess how to recover more disrupted passengers on other routes.

“We’re keeping the situation under constant review and are directly in touch with affected customers to offer them a range of options,” the carrier said.
