A man was fatally shot by his live-in partner’s former lover in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, following a confrontation between the three, according to a report by GMA Regional TV News on Thursday.
The victim and the suspect were reportedly talking inside a house alongside their shared former partner, identified only as “Maymay,” when the suspect suddenly drew a firearm and shot the victim.
Despite being wounded, the victim managed to run toward the street, where a CCTV camera captured the chase. The suspect pursued him and fired additional shots, ultimately killing him.
The victim sustained eight gunshot wounds. Before the attack, the suspect allegedly told the victim he harbored no ill feelings and had accepted his former partner’s new relationship. However, he left a message asking that their children not be kept from him.
According to the suspect’s sibling, the attack may have stemmed from unresolved emotions due to the lack of closure between the suspect and his former partner.
The victim’s family is determined to file charges as authorities continue their manhunt for the suspect.
