A man fought off a green anaconda in the Amazon River by biting the massive snake after it coiled around his arm, according to witnesses. The man had jumped into the river to protect children playing nearby, fearing the snake might attack them.
While the children were unharmed, the man found himself in a life-threatening situation as the anaconda coiled tightly around his arm and refused to let go. Despite efforts from bystanders to free him, the snake’s grip remained firm.
In a desperate move, the man bit the anaconda, which eventually released him. Green anacondas can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh as much as 550 pounds. Although non-venomous, they constrict their prey, suffocating them before swallowing them whole. These giant snakes are commonly found in the rivers and swamps of the Amazon.
