Bong Go vows to strengthen free college education, boost youth sports programs

Senator-elect Bong Go has pledged to prioritize educational opportunities and youth sports development in his upcoming term, highlighting the importance of accessible college education and athletic growth for Filipino students.

During his speech after being officially proclaimed as senator, Go emphasized the need to further enhance the Universal Access to Tertiary Education Act, which grants free tuition to students in state universities and colleges. He cited the law, signed in 2017 under former President Rodrigo Duterte, as a critical step in making higher education accessible.

“We need to invest more in education, like expanding further the law promoting the Universal Access to Tertiary Education… so that students will be able to choose more programs and avail free education,” Go stated.

Beyond academics, Go also underscored the significance of sports in shaping the youth, aspiring to nurture more young talents who could one day become Olympic medalists.

“By supporting sports development, we give young athletes a chance to hone their skills and achieve greater heights,” he added.

Go, who secured 27,121,073 votes in the recent elections, also took the opportunity to thank former President Duterte, calling him a mentor and inspiration throughout his political career. The senator-elect is among the “DuterTEN” candidates, a group of senatorial hopefuls endorsed by Duterte.
