Bong Go urges sincerity as Marcos opens door for reconciliation with Dutertes

Senator Bong Go, a longtime ally of former President Rodrigo Duterte, responded to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s recent openness to mend ties with the Duterte family by emphasizing the importance of genuine intent from all sides.

“Importante dito ‘yung sinseridad ng bawat isa,” Go said, adding that if reconciliation is truly being pursued, the President should first take steps to reach out directly to former President Duterte. “Kung gusto niyo po ng reconciliation, pabalakin niyo muna si Tatay Digong,” he said.

Marcos, in a recent interview, expressed his willingness to reconcile amid the ongoing political tensions, stating, “I already have lots of enemies. I don’t need enemies, I need friends.” He stressed that unity is necessary for the country, especially in the face of external challenges.

The tension between the two camps has grown more visible, especially with Vice President Sara Duterte facing an impeachment complaint. Despite this, Marcos has distanced himself from the case, saying the Senate should handle it independently and follow due process.

While some lawmakers welcomed Marcos’ call for reconciliation as a step toward national unity, others like Go are now calling for actions—not just words—to prove the President’s sincerity.
