Bomb joke onboard Cebu Pacific flight triggers security check in Bohol

Two passengers were taken into police custody after allegedly making a bomb joke while onboard Cebu Pacific flight 5J617, which had just landed at Bohol-Panglao International Airport on Saturday morning.

A flight attendant overheard the remark and immediately alerted authorities, prompting a swift response from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)’s Security and Intelligence Service.

In a statement, CAAP reminded the public that bomb jokes are a serious offense under Presidential Decree No. 1727, which prohibits false bomb threats. Violators may face up to five years of imprisonment or fines reaching P40,000.

The agency urged all passengers to be mindful of their words to maintain the safety and security of everyone onboard.
