BOC urges OFWs: 294 balikbayan boxes still unclaimed in Manila

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has called on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families to claim 294 unclaimed balikbayan boxes currently in BOC custody. These boxes, identified with Bill of Lading numbers ONEYKW1TA1994400, ONEYKW1TA1968500, and ONEYKW1TA1998800, were consigned to Mediacom Express Cargo and Pinoy Network Cargo WLL. They arrived in the Philippines from Kuwait on February 12, 2023, but were abandoned by the forwarder after collecting payments, leaving OFWs and their families without their packages.

The BOC has already facilitated the release and distribution of over 450 balikbayan boxes, bringing the total number of distributed boxes to 10,084. However, 294 boxes remain unclaimed and are currently stored at Port Net Logistics, Inc. CFS Warehouse in Santa Ana, Manila.

A list of the unclaimed boxes is available on the BOC website. To claim their boxes, recipients need to present the sender’s passport, a valid government-issued ID, and proof of shipping at the Port Net Logistics, Inc. CFS Warehouse. Representatives must also provide a notarized authorization letter or special power of attorney and a valid ID.

For inquiries, the BOC can be contacted via their hotline at (02) 8705-6000 or email at boc.cares@customs.gov.ph.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized the importance of reuniting the boxes with their owners, stating, “Let us work together to ensure that these balikbayan boxes, filled with memories and valuable items, reach their intended recipients.”
