BINI files complaint over spliced video that distorted street food vlog

P-pop girl group BINI, accompanied by their legal counsel Atty. Joji Alonso, formally filed a complaint at the Hall of Justice in Santa Rosa, Laguna on Monday, August 18, against an individual accused of manipulating and spreading a misleading video clip online.

According to Alonso, the respondent is being charged with unjust vexation under Article 287, in relation to Section 4(b) of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. She explained that the case stemmed from a heavily edited video of BINI members while they were trying Filipino street food.

“This complaint emanated from a spliced video of the girls who were testing, rating and tasting Filipino street food… the reduced video was running about two minutes and contained nothing but negative reactions, negative comments, on the food that they tasted. So this completely changed the narrative of the show ’cause what was left was all negativity,” Alonso said in an ABS-CBN News report.

The lawyer emphasized that if the respondent is proven guilty, the punishment could be severe. “Penalty is here is not that small, ha. It’s prision mayor, which is imprisonment of six years and a day to twelve years. And on top of that I’d just like to add, we also are asking damages in the amount of P1 million for each girl,” she added.
