The Filipino girl group BINI has achieved a major milestone by becoming the most-listened-to artist on Spotify in the Philippines, surpassing global superstar Taylor Swift. This achievement was officially marked on June 14, as per the latest Spotify Charts, with Star Music Philippines celebrating the milestone on social media.
“NUMBER ONE NA ANG NAG-IISANG NATION’S GIRL GROUP!” Star Music Philippines announced on June 16. “Isang nakaka-feel good na Sunday as our [BINI] makes herstory by being the first Filipino act to reach the #1 spot on the Spotify Philippines Daily Top Artists Chart. Congratulations, girls!”
BINI first entered the charts on February 9, 2024, at number 190 and climbed to the top over 128 days. Taylor Swift previously held the top spot for an impressive 968 days.
In the local chart, BINI is followed by Hev Abi in third place, with Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Maki, TJ Monterde, SZA, Al James, and Billie Eilish rounding out the top ten.
BINI boasts over 6.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with their hit song “Pantropiko” surpassing 80 million plays. The group recently celebrated their third anniversary with an event at One Ayala Makati on June 11 and launched their website a day earlier.
Their June 12 performance at Musikalayaan at Quirino Grandstand was cut short due to safety concerns when the crowd began moving closer to the stage, causing some disruptions.
Formed in 2019, BINI consists of members Jhoanna, Maloi, Stacey, Aiah, Colet, Gwen, Mikha, and Sheena.
