Batch 133 graduates from Ateneo ALSE OF-LIFE Bahrain, empowering OFWs

The Ateneo Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship (ALSE) OF-LIFE Program in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy, Migrant Workers Office Bahrain and the Filipino Club Bahrain, celebrated the graduation of Batch 133 on February 14, 2025, at the Movenpick Hotel, Bahrain.

This milestone event marked the culmination of a six-month program aimed at empowering Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) through leadership training, financial literacy, and social entrepreneurship.

The ceremony began with welcome remarks by Ric Advincula, Lead Secretariat, followed by an overview of the ALSE OF-LIFE Bahrain journey presented by Bahrain Secretariat. Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E. Anne Jalando-on Louis, delivered an inspiring message to the graduates, emphasizing their role as change-makers in their communities.

The keynote address was given by Dr. Philip Arnold P. Tuaño, Dean of the Ateneo School of Government, highlighting the transformative impact of education and leadership on OFWs’ lives. Certificates were awarded to 33 graduates, with special citations for achievements such as “Best in Business Plan Presentation.” Testimonials from graduates Vilma Gayo, Marinel Ladines, Fidelito Bandalan, and Michelle Lacbayen showcased personal growth and success stories.

The event concluded with an induction into the Global Ateneo ALSE OF-LIFE Alumni network led by Co-Program Coordinator Edgardo T. Valenzuela, PhD (hc), and a signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Bahrain and the Ateneo School of Government. The ceremony ended with a rendition of the University Hymn and a photo opportunity.

This graduation reflects ALSE OF-LIFE’s commitment to fostering leadership and entrepreneurial skills among Filipino migrants while promoting Ignatian values of service and community impact.
