A mother and daughter who had been missing since February 21, 2024, were found deceased and buried in the backyard of a relative’s home. The victims, who had recently returned from Japan, were the subject of a nationwide search after their disappearance.
The initial clue to their fate emerged when their suitcases were spotted floating in a river in Tayabas, Quezon. Upon recovery, authorities discovered the suitcases contained bloodied items belonging to the two. Further probing led investigators to the home of the mother’s sibling, where unusually soft soil in the backyard hinted at a grim discovery beneath.
Following an excavation, the remains of the mother and daughter were unearthed, confirming the worst fears of their family and community. The sibling, now a key person of interest in the case, has been taken into police custody as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime.
