German Panganiban Valdez, better known as Chockz Valdez, is a 43-year-old Electronics and Communications Engineering graduate who has found success abroad as a Document Controller.
Currently working at Iris Construction and Trading W.L.L., Chockz has spent over a decade working overseas, embracing opportunities and overcoming challenges.
Chockz began his journey in 2011 when he moved to Doha, Qatar, to work as a Document Controller for Al Sarh Trading and Contracting Company.
“At first, I didn’t have any plans to work abroad. But an opportunity came to earn more to support my family, so I grabbed the job offer,” he said.
Prior to working abroad, Chockz was a Sales Utility Clerk in the Philippines, and later an Encoder/Clerk for a consulting company.
His role as a Document Controller demands dedication and hard work. Chockz enjoys the challenge of processing large volumes of documents that may seem impossible to complete.
“The most satisfying thing is when I see the output,” he said.
Demonstrating his commitment to his work, Chockz once stayed in the office for three consecutive days to finish handing over documents.
Working abroad has allowed Chockz to not only earn a good income but also improve his competency and confidence.
However, it has not come without its struggles. Missing his family is one of the hardest parts of being overseas. Chockz has found solace and support in the Great Commission Global Ministry-Doha and the friends he has made in Qatar.
In the face of adversity, Chockz remains resilient, holding onto his mantra: “The only ones who are failures are the ones who never try.”
During a period when he went without a salary for four months, Chockz’s faith in God helped him overcome the challenge. He encourages his fellow Kabayans to “focus on their dreams and don’t forget the One who gives us the opportunity.”
Chockz’s passion for music has helped him stay connected to his roots and pursue his dreams.
Career in the music industry
In 2022, he released three singles on digital music platforms: “Preno,” “Dear Lord,” and “Paulit-Ulit Lang.”
His song “Preno” topped the Qabayan Radio 94.3 chart in Doha, Qatar, for four consecutive weeks.
Chockz plans to continue his music career after working overseas by composing more songs to inspire people.
Chockz’s journey is a testament to the power of determination, hard work, and faith.
His accomplishments in both his professional life and music career showcase the incredible potential that lies within those who are willing to take risks and seize opportunities.
