As the holiday season approaches, travel enthusiasts are on the hunt for the best deals for their end-of-year vacations. Agoda, a popular travel app, has recently released a list of the top 10 most affordable destinations in the Asia Pacific region, based on average room rates from December 22 to 31. This list is particularly significant given that the last 10 days of the year typically see a spike in travel due to holidays and school breaks.
The list, topped by Hat Yai in Thailand, includes a variety of destinations such as Yogyakarta in Indonesia and Kuching in Malaysia. Notably, Baguio in the Philippines has been recognized as the most affordable holiday destination in the country, ranking sixth overall in the region. With an average room rate of P5,400, Baguio offers a budget-friendly option for travelers.
Enric Casals, Associate Vice President of Agoda, emphasized the resurgence of travel across Asia in 2023. He pointed out the importance of finding budget-friendly options during peak travel seasons, noting that Agoda’s list caters to travelers with various budgets, allowing them to enjoy the year-end holidays in style.
Each destination on the list, despite being affordable, boasts its own unique attractions and charm. For instance, Hat Yai is celebrated for its vibrant nightlife and delicious seafood, while Yogyakarta, known as the “Cultural Heart of Java,” offers rich Javanese culture and historical sites. Kuching is famous for its nature scenery and street food, and Dalat in Vietnam offers a winter wonderland experience during the festive season. Goa in India is renowned for its beaches and nightlife.
