Bacolod Inasal BBQ launches new ‘Kansi’ dish across UAE branches

Fans of Filipino comfort food have something new to look forward to as Bacolod Inasal BBQ officially adds the iconic Ilonggo dish kansi to its menu. Now available across its branches in Flayva (Deira), BurJuman Mall, Ibn Battuta, and Abu Dhabi, this hearty offering brings a rich and soulful taste of home to diners in the UAE.

Kansi, a beloved dish from the Western Visayas region of the Philippines—particularly Bacolod and Iloilo—is best described as a cross between bulalo (beef marrow soup) and sinigang (sour tamarind-based soup). The dish is made with slow-cooked beef shanks and bone marrow simmered in a tangy broth, traditionally flavored with batwan, a souring fruit native to the region. Unripe jackfruit and lemongrass are often added to enrich the flavor, while annatto seeds provide a signature yellow-orange tint and earthy note. This makes the soup not only flavorful but also visually inviting.

Bacolod Inasal BBQ’s kansi is offered at an affordable AED 29 for the solo meal, and for those with bigger appetites, the AED 34 option includes unlimited rice. The dish is served steaming hot with tender beef, chunks of jackfruit, and a slice of calamansi for that extra zing—ideal for anyone craving the warmth of a slow-cooked Filipino broth.

This addition complements Bacolod Inasal BBQ’s existing lineup of beloved Filipino favorites. The restaurant is known for its signature grilled chicken inasal—marinated in vinegar, calamansi, lemongrass, and local spices, then grilled over charcoal. Other popular menu items include barbecue skewers, crispy pata, sisig, and combo platters, along with traditional Filipino desserts like turon, which is sometimes served complimentary with meals.
