Authorities are now in pursuit of a man who was caught on CCTV violently assaulting a 67-year-old woman during a brazen bag-snatching incident in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The disturbing footage, aired on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon, shows the victim walking along Sitio Pigulut when a man suddenly grabs her bag. As the woman resists, she is shoved to the ground, dragged along the pavement, and eventually kicked by the suspect to forcibly take the bag.
Despite being knocked down, the elderly victim held on tightly to her belongings, prompting the attacker to kick her before escaping with the bag. A concerned resident rushed to help, but the suspect had already fled the scene.
According to Police Major Don Kenneth Asuncion, commander of Sub-Station 2 of the San Fernando Police, the victim had just visited a friend and was on her way home when the assault happened.
“May pinuntahan lang daw po siyang kaibigan sa Sitio Pigulut at pauwi na po sana siya. ‘Yun na po, may sumusunod na sa kanyang tao at hinablot na po ‘yung gamit niya,” Asuncion said.
The stolen bag reportedly contained jewelry and P3,000 in cash.
Police identified the suspect as Rnald Cabilbil, Jr., also known as “Rambo,” a known snatcher allegedly linked to multiple theft cases in the area. A manhunt is now underway to locate and arrest him.
