Ateneo, UP lead Philippine schools in 2025 Asia university rankings

Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines (UP) once again emerged as the top universities in the country, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings released on Thursday.

Both institutions landed in the 501–600 bracket among 853 universities across 35 Asian countries and territories. Despite sharing the same bracket, Ateneo placed slightly higher than UP based on performance indicators such as research quality, teaching, and international outlook.

While UP retained its position from last year, Ateneo dropped from the 401–500 group in 2024.

Other Philippine universities in the rankings include De La Salle University, Mapua University, Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology, and the University of Santo Tomas, all in the 601+ group.

Fifteen other schools from the country submitted data but were not ranked and were listed as “reporters.”

China’s Tsinghua University topped the list, followed by Peking University and Singapore’s National University of Singapore.
