Six universities from the Philippines have once again secured their positions in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, with Ateneo de Manila University leading the list for the fourth year in a row.
According to THE’s announcement on Thursday, October 9, Ateneo remains the country’s top-ranked institution, placed within the 1,001–1,200 bracket globally. It was followed by the University of the Philippines, which landed in the 1,201–1,500 band.
Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas (UST), De La Salle University, Mapúa University, and Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) were all listed in the 1,501+ bracket. The London-based organization noted that these six schools showed improvements in research performance compared to the previous year.
No new Philippine universities entered the rankings this year.
In Southeast Asia, the National University of Singapore (NUS) remains the region’s top-performing institution, ranking 17th worldwide.
