Asian gang caught smuggling drugs inside A4 sheets in UAE

Sharjah Police have apprehended a group of six individuals of Asian origin after intercepting a shipment containing drugs hidden in A4 size paper. The suspects, part of a larger drug network, were caught smuggling 4kg of synthetic drugs, commonly known as ‘Spice’, into the country via a shipping company.

According to a Khaleej Times report, authorities discovered the narcotics hidden within ordinary-looking envelopes and notebooks filled with A4 paper, initially appearing to be meant for drawing or writing. However, upon inspection, the paper was found to be laced with the dangerous drug.

In addition to the hidden ‘Spice’, ready-to-use marijuana was also seized from the suspects, who were allegedly preparing to sell the narcotics locally. Following a tip-off about the illegal activity, police formed a special team to trace the individuals involved, ultimately arresting all six suspects.

A search of their residences uncovered further quantities of marijuana and more of the hidden ‘Spice’. Despite the suspects’ attempts to camouflage the drugs, thorough examinations by authorities exposed their operation.

Sharjah Police emphasized the potency of ‘Spice’, noting its harmful effects, often more dangerous than other narcotics such as heroin and opioids. The arrested individuals have been transferred to the public prosecutor’s office for further legal proceedings.

Colonel Majid Al-Assam, speaking on the case, warned that criminal methods are becoming more sophisticated, with drug dealers using innovative techniques to lure people, especially youth, into addiction. He also urged the public to report any suspicious activity or drug promotion by calling 8004654 or emailing dea@shjpolice.gov.ae.
