Armed forces top earners in PH workforce with P1,301 daily wage, PSA reports

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed the top-paying occupations in its October 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS), with members of the armed forces receiving the highest daily basic pay.

According to the LFS, armed forces occupations, excluding civil defense roles like police and customs inspectors, topped the list with an average daily wage of ₱1,301, up from ₱1,173 in October 2023.

Professionals ranked second, earning an average of ₱1,168 daily, slightly higher than last year’s ₱1,135. This group includes individuals applying scientific or artistic concepts in fields like sciences, legal services, and arts.

Managers followed in third place with ₱1,109 daily pay, reflecting a drop from last year’s ₱1,254. The PSA defines managers as those overseeing the activities of enterprises, governments, or organizations.

Technicians and associate professionals ranked fourth, earning ₱826 daily, an increase from ₱785 in October 2023. Clerical support workers rounded out the top five at ₱740, up from ₱706 year-on-year.

On the other hand, the survey identified the five lowest-paying occupations. Skilled agricultural, forestry, and fishery workers earned the least, at ₱378 daily. Elementary occupations followed with ₱413, while service and sales workers earned ₱525. Craft and related trades workers and plant and machine operators earned ₱553 and ₱583, respectively.
