Apple unveils thinnest iPhone ever, powerful new devices at ‘Awe Dropping’ event

Apple wowed fans and tech watchers on Tuesday as it introduced its latest lineup of devices during its highly anticipated “Awe Dropping” event — headlined by a dramatically slimmer iPhone, smarter AirPods, and upgraded Apple Watches with life-saving features.

“We’re taking the biggest leap ever for iPhone,” Apple CEO Tim Cook declared during the keynote, setting the tone for what would be a milestone product reveal.

iPhone Air leads ultra-thin revolution

At just 5.6mm thick, the new iPhone Air is officially Apple’s slimmest iPhone yet. Priced at $999, this 6.5-inch device not only shaves down on size but packs durability, an improved internal chip, and what Apple claims is its most power-efficient performance to date. With an all-day battery and enhanced camera, the iPhone Air is poised to grab attention among design-conscious users.

Apple also introduced the iPhone 17 series, which includes the standard iPhone 17, the 17 Pro ($1,099), and the 17 Pro Max ($1,199). The Pro model offers an advanced thermal design to prevent overheating and touts 39 hours of video playback — the longest battery life ever in an iPhone. For visual creators, Apple noted that the entire event was shot using the iPhone 17 Pro to showcase its cinematic capabilities.

Meanwhile, the 6.3-inch iPhone 17 brings display improvements, including thinner borders and enhanced readability under direct sunlight. A quick 10-minute charge now delivers up to 8 hours of video playback. Apple also revealed that iPhone users snapped a staggering 500 billion selfies last year, prompting improvements to the front-facing camera’s field of view and resolution.

All four new iPhones will be available on September 19, with pre-orders opening on September 12.

AirPods Pro 3 goes beyond audio

The AirPods Pro 3 are getting a health and communication boost. Apple introduced heart rate sensing directly through the earbuds — no watch needed — thanks to new custom sensors. Noise cancellation has also been doubled, which Apple claims is now the best in any in-ear headphones globally.

Perhaps the most groundbreaking new feature is live translation. The AirPods can lower outside voices and translate speech in real time, a potential game-changer for travelers and multicultural workplaces.

Apple Watch tackles hypertension, adds satellite support

Health remained a core focus for the new Apple Watches. The $399 Apple Watch Series 11 debuts with mental health tools, including mood tracking, and takes on hypertension by monitoring blood pressure fluctuations over time. Apple says it hopes to identify up to one million cases of high blood pressure in its first year.

A new sleep score system — tracking duration, wake-ups, and sleep consistency — will be available on the $249 Apple Watch SE 3, offering advanced health insights at a more accessible price point.

Meanwhile, the rugged $799 Apple Watch Ultra 3 now supports satellite connectivity, ensuring emergency assistance even when off the grid. It also features a 42-hour battery and shares the same hypertension alert system as the Series 11.

Cook proudly emphasized, “Apple Watch [is] the most popular watch in the world.”

All new Apple Watch models are available for pre-order now and hit stores on September 19.
