Anti-corruption movement to hold Friday rallies ahead of big Bonifacio Day march

The Trillion Peso March movement is set to kick off its weekly protests against corruption on Friday, October 10, as part of a series of nationwide activities leading up to a massive rally on November 30, according to a report by Inquirer.net.

The initial demonstrations will be held simultaneously across schools, offices, churches, and community areas. Activities will include noise barrages, candle lighting, and protest circles in public spaces, with a special mass scheduled at the EDSA Shrine and other city centers.

Organizers urged participants to bring candles, placards, and objects that can make noise—such as whistles, horns, and pots—to symbolize their stand against corruption.

The Trillion Peso March, led by the Church Leaders Council for National Transformation and supported by more than 80 civic groups, aims to “intensify the moral struggle of the Filipino people against corruption.”

“Join us in daily acts of solidarity: Wear a white ribbon. Put a white flag in your house, car, and churches. Toll the bells and sound a noise barrage, light candles at 8:00 p.m., and recite the National Day of Prayer and Public Repentance,” the movement said in a Facebook post dated October 7.

The culminating event on November 30, coinciding with Bonifacio Day, is expected to draw around 100 participating organizations.

In a previous interview with Inquirer.net, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan chair Teodoro “Teddy” Casiño said discussions were ongoing for another major protest this month. “There are suggestions that aside from the one on November 30, another big centralized rally should also be held this month,” Casiño said, adding that different sectors are preparing their own mass actions.
