Anne Curtis has refuted claims that she criticized Vice Ganda’s style of humor, calling out a viral social media post that falsely quoted her.
The fabricated statement, which spread online, alleged that Curtis found Vice Ganda’s jokes “disrespectful” and urged the comedian to “control” them. On Wednesday morning, Aug. 13, Curtis took to social media to set the record straight.
“Good morning, guys! See you on Showtime today! And I think by now you know that the post going around about my sisterette didn’t come from me… A little respect, please,” she wrote, using the term of endearment she and Vice Ganda share.
The false quote emerged while Vice Ganda remained absent from It’s Showtime for three days, following backlash over a “Jetski Holiday” comedy skit with Regine Velasquez during their Super Divas concert. The parody touched on the West Philippine Sea dispute and former President Rodrigo Duterte’s detention at The Hague, prompting calls from Duterte supporters to declare Vice persona non grata in Davao City.
While Vice President Sara Duterte said such a declaration would require a majority decision, several personalities, including Palace press officer Claire Castro and actress-comedian Pokwang, publicly expressed support for the comedian.
Vice Ganda has yet to issue a statement on the controversy.
