Veteran talent manager Annabelle Rama has subtly weighed in on the rumored romance between her son, actor Richard Gutierrez, and actress Barbie Imperial. While Rama did not confirm the relationship, her recent Facebook post suggests a low-key approval of the “Barbie doll.”
Rama took to Facebook on Wednesday, June 5, following entertainment insider Ogie Diaz’s report that Gutierrez and Imperial are “exclusively dating.” In her post, she addressed the speculation with humor and indirect references.
“Hoy!! Yung walang magawa sa buhay tumahimik na kayo. Kasi si Annabelle Doll hindi lalaban kay Barbie Doll maganda, maputi at makinis,” Rama wrote, seemingly complimenting Imperial. Although she didn’t name anyone directly, the message was clear to many of her followers.
Rama further added a playful twist by saying she would rather trade barbs with “Chucky,” the notorious killer doll from a popular horror movie series. “Ang gusto makalaban ni Annabelle doll si Chucky. Alam nyo na kung sino yun HAHAHA happy kana,” she quipped.
Netizens quickly picked up on the post, with some interpreting it as Rama’s approval of Imperial for her son. Comments speculated whether Rama was referring to herself, Imperial, and Gutierrez’s estranged wife, Sarah Lahbati.
The dating rumors between Gutierrez and Imperial have been circulating since January 2024, after they were seen together at an Alabang gastropub. The pair was later spotted in what appeared to be a getaway in South Korea. On May 30, Diaz reported on his showbiz vlog that the two are indeed “exclusively dating,” clarifying that there was no overlap between Lahbati and Imperial.
As of now, neither Gutierrez nor Imperial have confirmed their relationship.
