Angelika dela Cruz expresses fear for safety after facing multiple charges

Actress and Barangay Longos captain Angelika dela Cruz broke her silence following the string of criminal and administrative complaints filed against her at the Office of the Ombudsman.

Currently running for vice mayor of Malabon City, Angelika faces serious allegations, including plunder amounting to at least PHP70 million, along with dozens of charges for malversation of public funds, failure to render accounts, illegal use of public funds, and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. She is also accused of neglecting her duties and improperly delegating her responsibilities to her brother, Barangay Kagawad Erick dela Cruz, who is likewise facing a grave misconduct complaint.

Angelika’s barangay treasurer was also charged with failure to render accounts and illegal use of public funds.

Shortly after the complaints surfaced, Angelika took to Facebook to air her sentiments, hinting at political motivations behind the charges. She admitted that while mudslinging is common in politics, the gravity of the situation has left her genuinely worried for her safety.

“Grabe tlg ang politics pag hindi nila nakuha ang gusto nila sa siraan next step kakasuhan ka naman nila,” she wrote. “Haayyy baka sa susunod nyan ipapatay nyo ako ah.”

Angelika’s post quickly drew attention, highlighting the emotional toll the controversy has taken on her amid her ongoing campaign.
